A fine example of what hidden jealousy can create: trouble and strife, broken hearts and total indifference towards others. Dyan does not show himself to any great advantage here, immature, arrogant, and spiteful, he causes the destruction of one marriage, and the utter desolation of complete indifference in yet another, all in the name of love! MZB struck very few wrong notes in the Darkover universe, but I could wish that this had somehow had a different ending. Such petty malice in Dyan's character disturbs me. I have read the entire saga, from the "Sword of Aldones" to "Sharra's Exile" and "The Heritage to Hastur", and I've loved them all, but this story still leaves me ... disturbed somehow. That feeling takes nothing away from this story, which is fully up to her best.Product details
